Custom guitar strap
A hand-tooled strap, built around the player rather than picked off a wall. Heavy-duty vegetable-tanned full-grain leather, artwork cut and shaded by hand, and a natural suede underside that holds the shoulder instead of sliding off it.
-
A strap made for a player: hula dancer, banded sunset, palm trees and breaking waves, tooled and dyed by hand.
How one is built
| Leather | Heavy-duty vegetable-tanned full-grain, the same hide the belts are cut from. |
|---|---|
| Main body | Wide — typically 2.5″ to 3″ — so the weight of the instrument is spread across the shoulder rather than concentrated on a strip of it. |
| Tail strap | A narrower adjustable tail, typically 1″. |
| Underside | Natural suede, left rough so it grips. |
| Artwork | Tooled by hand and designed around the player — the same process the belts go through. Personalized lettering and hand-dyeing are part of it, not extras bolted on afterwards. |
Commissioning one
Straps are not configured online the way belts are — the shape of the piece depends on the instrument, the player and the artwork, so it starts as a conversation rather than a form. Tell me what you have in mind and I will come back with design options and a price before anything is committed to.
Nothing is charged for asking, and no price is quoted until the design is settled enough to quote honestly.
